Digital sets and environments are helping create key scenes in many films, and for each new production, new techniques and technologies are pushing the envelope of what is possible. Together with Norwegian Film Development PLACEBO EFFECTS has helped create one of the year’s most exciting film seminars in Scandinavia, where leading speakers from the movie industry in Los
Angeles, London and Oslo will visualize the possibilities and challenges of digital set design.
Keynote speaker is production designer Alex McDowell from LA. McDowell’s extensive portfolio includes the “Corpse Bride”, “Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory”, “The Terminal”, “Minority Report”, “Fight Club” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. He will present digital and physical set design in a two-hour interactive session.
LA visual effects designer Eric Hanson will give an introduction into digital sets and
environments using his work on films such as “The Fifth Element” and “The Day After
Tomorrow”, as well as showcasing work for smaller productions. CG Supervisor Dayne Cowan from Double Negative in London of Harry Potter fame will show work on the digital ‘Gotham City’ of “Batman Begins”. VFX artists Torgeir Busch and Aksel Jermstad from Oslo will present work on the award winning Swedish film “Storm” (2006).
