New York study tour Oct 24 - 29, 2007
Every year the whole crew of Placebo Effects travel somewhere together to be inspired and see interesting works of graphic design, art, architecture, animation and the likes. This year New York was our target.

New York was covered in mist and rain for the most part of our brief stay, but that didn't put us off from four long days of walking, subway hopping, taxi and limo driving and ultimately helicopter flying. On our program were visits to the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum and the Guggenheim. The Apple Store was a sightseeing target as well as the place for shopping of iPhones and gadgets, while several restaurants such as Buddakan, and the Mercer Hotel had been selected both for their interior design and the menu.
We stayed at the small but fun Hotel QT near Times Square, which has an innovative layout on the ground and first floor combining a swimming pool and a spa area with two bars. Our friends at NBBJ New York made sure we sampled the NY club scene with visits to places like The Glass house and Entourage.

At the Ground Zero site we found traces of our visualization work for the Snøhetta WTC Cultural Centre produced in 2005. The project is now greatly reduced in scope and the original rendering had been cropped heavily so not much was left to see.
