Fredrikstad based advertising agency Kritthuset and TV/film production company PopMedia together with PLACEBO EFFECTS recently produced a TV commercial for Nordsjö, the Swedish provider of paint products. Nordsjö is one of the best known and oldest brand names in Sweden and have produced paint and related products for more than a century.

The visualization skills of PLACEBO EFFECTS were called upon to create a solution for a short film commercial featuring a bucket of paint situated on a non-existing small rocky island in the Scandinavian peninsula on a very calm and sunny summer afternoon - a “Super summer”.

It required the use of an all computer graphics solution where a number of real-life photographs of small rocky islands with lighthouses, summer cottages, naked rock surfaces and grass where used as the basis for a 3d model of an 'ideal' summer holiday island. This virtual island was populated with various props such as a lighthouse, a cottage, a jetty, a motorboat, a small shed, seagulls and vegetation as well as a detailed model of a Nordsjö Tinova VX paint bucket, modeled and textured by Tom Winberg of Wide3d.

The complete scene with animated water and a surrounding skydome was then 'shot' (rendered) with a camera homing in on the island and eventually coming to a stand still in front of the paint bucket, complete with the ambient noises of a seaside summer day.
