Norwegian architecture studios a-lab and migrant, with the help of interior architects zinc, has won the international competition for the new townhall in Ajman. This is a 15000m2, one billion Norwegian kroner project.

The project was challenging for us in more than one way, both because it was unknown territory from a cultural and geographic point-of-view and also because over a period of two short weeks the project was designed, 3d modelled and visualized in parallell. After the initial delivery a few revisions were completed, entourage elements were changed such as cars and palm trees to root the project in this region of the world. The project design was also refined, a water cooled facade solution to the low part of the building was added and the site plan and interior spaces were re-programmed.
