AVC PRESENTATIONS

On Tuesday May 4 th Kim took part in a short panel discussion chaired by Jeff Mottle from CGArchitect.com . The panel consisted of Eric Hanson from Digital Domain, Alex Morris from Hayes Davidson and Knut Ramstad from Selvaag BlueThink in addition to Baumann Larsen. The topic for Jeff's presentation was “The Future of Architecture Visualization”, and Kim was asked to speculate on the possible future benefits for designers and clients using real-time visualisation in architecture visualisation.

Following Jeff's presentation, Baumann Larsen presented on real-time architecture visualisation demonstrating the process behind the creation of the Lightscape + 3d Studio MAX real-time model of the Ringerike Hospital, somatic ward. This model was running in Octaga's Octagon Player. He also presented the real-time Nykredit model done by Thomas Suurland of First Eye, modeled in 3d Studio MAX and running on the VisuAll engine by Digital Arts.

PANEL

On Wednesday May 5 th the panel on “Real-time architecture visualization using game technology” was chaired by Baumann Larsen and included panelists Knut Ramstad from Selvaag BlueThink, Ola Ødegård from Octaga and Thomas Rued from Digital Arts. The panel discussed real-time architecture visualisation issues concerning three main topics: 1) visualisation – the challenges of properly representing the visual qualities of architecture, 2) interactivity – the many possible interactive features that real-time can afford both the end-user and designer and 3) content creation – the tools at hand to make real-time architecture models and possible improvements on these to facilitate the real-time model creation process.
